Free-agent big man Amida Brimah has agreed to terms with the Indiana Pacers.

The Indiana Pacers have signed Amida Brimah to a contract, according to Chris Haynes. Brimah was signed to an Exhibit 10 contract with the Pacers last season before being waived a month later. Brimah, a 7-footer out of Connecticut, has bounced around the NBA since 2017 but has never logged minutes in an NBA game.

The Pacers brought in Brimah last season, which likely plays into his signing this offseason. A familiar face enters the building with a chance to provide depth in the frontcourt, although there is not much risk involved with the signing. His lack of contribution at the next level allows the Pacers to stash him and get him minutes in the G-League but size to backup Myles Turner and Goga Bitadze if they need him.

This is sort of a precautionary move for Indiana, in my opinion. Just in case something happens with a big man, the Pacers have someone under contract that can provide some size and athleticism in their place.

Brimah tore his ACL prior to being waived by the Pacers last season but is given a chance to return in 2020-21. If healthy, he will give the Pacers a G-League veteran who can protect the rim and rebound.

He averages 2.8 blocks and 7.8 rebounds per game in his G-League career. This is by no means a splash signing for Indiana, but it is a safety net in case of emergency as they enter the new season.
