With the 54th overall pick, the Indiana Pacers select Cassius Stanley.

The Indiana Pacers entered Wednesday’s NBA Draft with just one selection, pick No. 54, which came near the end of the night. They used that pick to select Cassius Stanley, a freshman guard out of Duke.

Stanley was a big-time recruit out of high school and landed at Duke. He started 29 games for the Blue Devils in 2019-20 and averaged 12.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game as a freshman. Stanley knocked down 36 percent of his three-point attempts last season.

The Pacers need help on the wing and Stanley has the potential to fill that void for them in the future. He may spend the early portion of his career near the bottom of the depth chart, but this was a steal for the Pacers at the end of the draft.

Cassius Stanley is another late draft pick with a chance to contribute in Indiana, joining recent selections Alize Johnson and Edmond Sumner. He could join the second unit and utilize his raw athleticism and speed to bring energy off the bench this season.

Stay tuned for more updates and in-depth analysis of the selection, as well as the rest of the upcoming offseason with free agency set to begin later this week.

Next. Don't expect the Pacers to make a huge trade. dark
