Indiana Pacers: 3 reasons why they will have success in 2021
By Luke Parrish
The Indiana Pacers will have a strong second unit
Indiana will have a deep group of contributors next season as they retain most of their 2019-20 team. T.J. McConnell and Aaron Holiday should continue to lead the backcourt and split some minutes with the starting frontcourt as the Pacers space out minutes. The two combined for 16 points and 8.4 assists per game last season.
Doug McDermott is a capable shooter who can get hot at any given moment, adding extra shooting on the perimeter. Justin Holiday, who is a free agent, would be a great piece if the Pacers bring him back for another year.
Goga Bitadze and Edmond Sumner are both promising young players. Goga, who played sparingly as a rookie last season, should improve his game the more he sees the floor and can be a viable big man off the bench.
Jeremy Lamb is coming off an injury and we do not have any timetable for his return, but his ability to score gives Indiana a veteran option on the wing. While Indiana doesn’t have a proven difference-maker off the bench, they do have plenty of guys who can contribute on a nightly basis. This team has the depth to make a run with starting experience under their belts in case they need to take on an extra workload.
