The Indiana Pacers trading Myles Turner for an unproven draft pick would be a risky move.

Rumors have suggested that Indiana could possibly offer Myles Turner in a trade to Golden State in exchange for the number 2 pick. Let me tell you why that wouldn’t be a great idea.

We are officially less than two weeks away from the 2020 NBA Draft and you know what that means. Trade rumors are running rampant on the internet. A whole slew of trades is being thrown out in hopes one of them will happen and improve their teams.

This year we have heard of multiple teams possibly eyeing to move out of the top spots, mostly due to there not being a clear cut superstar in the draft. Sure Anthony Edwards, James Wiseman, and Lamelo Ball could be big-time players in the league but they all have glaring question marks.

One trade I’ve seen circulate the internet is the Pacers could send Myles Turner to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for the No. 2 overall pick. This would clearly be a major trade as it gives the Warriors a modern center that can block shots and shoot threes in a Warriors system that is in dire need of those skills at that position. This trade would also give the Pacers a top-three pick which is a rarity since the Pacers haven’t cracked the top 5 in decades.

The trade on paper may seem like it makes sense. Reports have come out that Myles Turner could be disgruntled with the lack of playoff success during his time with the Pacers. The number two pick could be a great haul in exchange for Turner if the Pacers were able to hit with the pick. However, I think this would be a bad move for the Pacers.
