Pelicans star Jrue Holiday would be a great fit for the Indiana Pacers.

The Indiana Pacers have an opportunity to get a proven veteran. It has been reported that the Pelicans are listening to offers for two-way star Jrue Holiday. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that New Orleans is listening to offers from several contending teams.

The Pacers may or may not fit the description of a contending team depending on how you want to look at it. They have been a consistent playoff team who has failed to get past the first round for what feels like an eternity.

Trading for a player of Jrue Holiday’s caliber would certainly take them to another level, especially on the wing. However, that would also require Indiana to trade one or more of its best assets to make it happen. Whether it’s Myles Turner or Victor Oladipo, the Pelicans will want some sort of quality return for their most proven star.

Victor Oladipo, as we all know, is not a guarantee in Indiana’s future plans, and getting any sort of value for him before he leaves for nothing has to be enticing. My guess, however, would be a deal centered around Myles Turner and Jrue Holiday. The potential of Holiday on the defensive end next to Malcolm Brogdon and Oladipo would make Indiana an elite perimeter defense.

For New Orleans, adding Myles Turner to a roster that includes Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Lonzo Ball affords them the opportunity to add more young talent. This would be an enormous move for their future while giving Indiana a piece to help win now.

I think Indiana and New Orleans have pieces that can help each other with the direction they wish to take but the construction of a trade is never easy.
