Worst-case scenario for Victor Oladipo:

If Victor Oladipo doesn’t return to All-NBA/All-Star form this could lead to a few things occurring. This could lead to the Pacers not finding him worth an extension, which would probably end in him walking in free agency with the Pacers getting nothing in return. That would not be ideal for a player who was All-NBA in 2017-18.

Another thing to piggyback off of that is that if he doesn’t return to form we could trade him for bare minimum value and he returns back to form on his next team, and honestly, with the pain Pacers fans have to constantly deal with, it wouldn’t surprise me if that happened.

Oladipo returning to his old form could also create a bad scenario for the Pacers believe it or not. If Oladipo returns to form it would raise the value the Pacers would need to get in return, which also sounds good. The contract is what throws a wrench into that, if he is at high value and a team wants to trade for him they would probably want a verbal commitment from Oladipo that he would re-sign, which probably wouldn’t happen.

That would lead to many teams backing out of the Oladipo sweepstakes which could lead to the Pacers’ options being very limited or Oladipo only committing to one or two teams and they would have to take the options no matter how good or bad because the Pacers need something in return.

Also in this process, if Oladipo commits to wanting to play for a certain team they could just back out of trade talks and wait for him in free agency, leaving the Pacers in the mud and getting nothing in return for a back to form Oladipo.

We can only hope for the best-case Scenarios to happen, but as the Pacer fans we are, we know the best isn’t always what’s going to happen.
