The Indiana Pacers finally have their next head coach in former Raptors assistant Nate Bjorkgren.
After waiting for dominos to fall, the Indiana Pacers finally have their next head coach. Former Raptors assistant Nate Bjorkgren has reportedly agreed to become the team’s next head coach, according to Shams Charania.
Bjorkgren has served as an NBA assistant since 2015 with the Phoenix Suns and Toronto Raptors and has racked up some solid accolades as a coach. He was part of the Raptors staff that won the 2019 NBA Championship and was also an assistant for the Iowa Energy when they won the D-League title in 2011.
This is Bjorkgren first opportunity as a head coach in the NBA but he has been around success since the 2018 season with Toronto. Despite not being rumored in recent reports of the narrowed search, the Pacers brought in a coach with plenty of potential who has seen what it takes to win a championship.
The new job will not be pleasant for Bjorkgren right off the bat. He has plenty of decisions to make before the upcoming NBA Draft and free agency period, which is sure to be a treat for a first-time head coach.
The Pacers finally have their guy for the foreseeable future and can start to build the roster as he sees fit. The next month or so will give much more of a glimpse into the direction this team chooses to take for the future.
