The Indiana Pacers may reconnect with former assistant Mike Brown

The Indiana Pacers added another name to their coaching search this week, former Pacers assistant Mike Brown. Brown spent the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons with the Pacers before leaving to be the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Brown led the Cavaliers to a Finals appearance in his second season as a head coach and advanced past the first round in each of his six playoff appearances. He spent time as head coach of the Lakers for parts of two seasons, including a five-game stint in 2012-13 before he was fired.

His last four seasons have been spent as an assistant with the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors, as we all know, have been one of the best teams in the NBA over that span and Brown has continued to learn under Steve Kerr.

While he has not been a head coach since 2014, Brown had success in his first attempt. With plenty of playoff experience under his belt, he may bring some help to Indiana. After yet another first-round exit, the Pacers still appear to be nothing more than a pretender.

More and more names will flood into the coaching search as the offseason looms for the Indiana Pacers. As we have already seen, they seem set on doing their background work and trying to find the right coach for the team. Whether it be Mike Brown, a coach with playoff experience, or a first-time head coach with a lot of potential, I am sure the front office will find the right fit.

Next. Could Becky Hammon be the next head coach?. dark
