The Indiana Pacers have a big offseason ahead of them. Could this trade send the Pacers to new heights?
This offseason for the Indiana Pacers is one of the most important offseasons in recent years. The Pacers are in the market for a new head coach that will lead this franchise to new heights(or at least out of the first round). Uncertainty surrounds Victor Oladipo as he enters the final year of his contract and hasn’t expressed if he wants to resign with Indiana. Does the front office still believe in the Turbonis pairing?
I have come up with a trade that helps Indiana with the Oladipo and Turbonis questions. This trade will transform this Pacers squad into a modern NBA basketball team perfectly suited for whoever the next coach of the Indiana Pacers might be. With no further ado, I present to Pacer Nation the trade that will transform the Indiana Pacers.
The Indiana Pacers trade two studs
At first glance, Pacers fans might dismiss this one immediately. Some may even be irate with the thought of even trading either of these players. Allow me to explain my inner mad scientist with this one.
The Pacers would be getting the player that the fans think Victor Oladipo can be. Bradley Beal arguably had his best season to date with the stat line of 30.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game while having an effective field goal percentage of 52 percent. Adding someone of that caliber to the Pacers would instantly transform the offense.
Yes, Beal was snubbed from the All-star team and All-NBA team this year. He is the only player to ever average 30 points and not make an All-NBA team. Some may even argue his numbers this year were a result of “Good Stats, Bad Team”. I don’t believe this to be true. The last time the Wizards were in the playoffs was 2017-18. Bradley Beal was an All-Star that year and had similar stats to ( you guessed it) Victor Oladipo who made the All-NBA that season. The only major difference was Victor’s 2.4 steals per game.
I don’t think the Pacers are giving up too much in this deal either. Sabonis is the more promising player of the two players due to the fact he is so young and already very good. Sabonis did have a fantastic season and made his first all-star team. You also trade a player that in a year might just walk away from the team and the Pacers get nothing in return. So why not go trade for a guy that should’ve been an All-star and All-NBA if his team didn’t stink.
Yes, it would suck to see the two best friends leave the team they both became all-stars on. I think if this trade happens for the Pacers you have to take it. It would transform the Pacers into a more modern era basketball team. This trade would give us a more formidable backcourt pairing, Myles gets to be the lone big, Tj Warren could play the 3 or 4 depending on how small you’d like to go. I believe this trade would leave the Pacers a better team than if we kept both Oladipo and Sabonis.
