Indiana Pacers: Best player all-time from each Big XII program
Best Indiana Pacers Player from Texas: Myles Turner
Much of Myles Turner’s Pacer legacy is yet to be built as the five-year big man is just 23 years old.
In his rookie season (2014-15), he made a significant impact and helped guide the team back to the playoffs while netting 10.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per night. His best season to date came a year later when he played in 81 games and averaged 14.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per contest.
Turner has averaged double-digit scoring in each of his five seasons and has been a force on the defensive end, even leading the NBA in blocks in 2019. Over his five seasons and 335 games, Turner’s career averages sit at 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game with the Pacers reaching the playoffs in each of those seasons.
In recent years, the emergence of a fellow young big man, Domantas Sabonis has resulted in a great deal of trade speculation. Regardless, Turner is on-pace to be a defensive force in the NBA for many years to come.
Best Indiana Pacers Player from Texas Tech: Darvin Ham
Most known for shattering a backboard in the 1996 NCAA Tournament, Darvin Ham signed as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Nuggets prior to the 1996-97 season. In February of that year, he was traded to the Pacers where he played in just one game during the lockout-shortened season.
Ham went on to win a title with Detroit in 2004 and is now an assistant for the Milwaukee Bucks.
Best Indiana Pacers Player from West Virginia: Jerome Anderson
A third-round pick of the Celtics in the 1975 NBA Draft, Jerome Anderson signed with Indiana a year later. He averaged 2.4 points per game with Indiana and put up a career-high 14 points against Denver in March of 1997.
Anderson went on to a successful coaching career in Europe before his passing in 2009.
