Best Indiana Pacers Player from Michigan St.: Scott Skiles
An Indiana native from LaPorte, Scott Skiles played a season with the Milwaukee Bucks before being traded to the Pacers where he spent two seasons.
He averaged 5.9 points and 4.4 assists per game while in Indiana. His passing skills began to develop later in his career with the Pacers, recording double-digit assists on seven occasions in the second half of the 1988-89 season.
After leaving for Orlando, Skiles earned the NBA Most Improved Player award in after the 1990-91 season and still holds the NBA record with 30 assists in a single game. After his playing days, Skiles immediately went into coaching and has had stints as the head coach for the Suns, Bulls, Bucks, and Magic.
Best Indiana Pacers Player from Minnesota: Ron Behagen
A third-team All-American at Minnesota, Behagen was selected as the seventh overall pick in the 1973 NBA Draft to the Kansas City-Omaha Kings.
In 1977-78 he made his way to the Pacers where he saw action in 51 contests and averaged 11.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He notched 13 double-doubles and 10 20-plus point games.
