Best Indiana Pacers player from Syracuse: Louis Orr
The 28th pick in the 1980 NBA Draft, Louis Orr played his first two seasons in the Circle City before being traded to the Knicks in October of 1982.
In 162 games with the Pacers, Orr averaged 11 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists while also shooting nearly 60 percent from the field. He helped the team reach the 1981 NBA Playoffs, but the Pacers were swept in the first round by Philadelphia.
Orr went on to a career on college coaching with stints as the head coach of Siena (2000-01), Seton Hall (2001-06), and Bowling Green (2007-14). Currently, he’s an assistant for Patrick Ewing at Georgetown.
Best Indiana Pacers player from Virginia: Kenton Edelin
Kenton Edelin reached the 1984 Final Four with Virginia before the Pacers selected him in the seventh round of the NBA Draft.
He played in just 10 games during his career and averaged 2.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. On the defensive end, Edelin added 1.3 steals and one block per outing.
