Best Indiana Pacers player from UNC: Tyler Hansbrough

An NCAA Champion, consensus Player of the Years, three-time All-American, and one of the best collegiate basketball players in history, Hansbrough was selected with the 13th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.

He played in just 29 games as a rookie due to injuries but helped the Pacers to the playoffs after a four-year drought in his second season.

That 2010-11 campaign would be the best of his NBA career after averaging 11.0 points and 5.2 rebounds, both career-highs. A gritty presence off the bench the next two seasons, Indiana pushed the LeBron James led heat in back-to-back postseasons the following two years before leaving for Toronto in free agency.

Hansbrough finished his four-year Pacer career with per-game averages of 8.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per night. He played two seasons in Toronto and another in Charlotte before making his way to Asia where he has played since 2017.

Honorable Mention: Sam Perkins

Best Indiana Pacers player from NC State: Sidney Lowe

Originally drafted by the Bulls in 1983, Lowe was traded to Indiana on draft night where he played just one season. He had been the starting point guard for Jim Valvanoโ€™s miracle national championship team that same year.

Appearing in 78 games his rookie season, Lowe averaged 4.2 points, 3.4 assists, and 1.6 rebounds before being waived and playing three more seasons around the league. Lowe has served as an assistant coach for a number of NBA teams and has been the head coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies, and North Carolina State University.

Currently, he is an assistant for the Detroit Pistons.
