Best Indiana Pacers player from Florida State: George McCloud

Largely considered a draft bust, McCloud was the seventh overall pick in the 1989 NBA Draft after an all-American season for the Seminoles.

He upped his scoring average each season in Indiana culminating in 7.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in 1992-93. McCloud was forced to play a season in Italy the next season before getting another chance in the NBA after becoming a sharpshooting specialist.

Averaging just 5.5 points for the Pacers, McCloud ended his 12-year NBA career by scoring nine points and grabbing 3.1 rebounds per night.

Best Indiana Pacers player from Georgia Tech: Travis Best

A key piece during the Pacers’ heyday of the 1990s, the team selected Travis Best with the 23rd pick in the 1995 NBA Draft.

The Pacers were fresh off an Eastern Conference Finals appearance when Best joined the team, but Indiana was eliminated by the Hawks in the first round of the 1996 playoffs and failed to make the postseason the following year.

During that span, Best worked his way into the starting lineup but then moved into a key contributor off the bench over the next few years with the Pacers advancing to back-to-back Eastern Conference Finals and an NBA Finals appearance the following season.

Best had his greatest season in 2000-01, his last full year with the Pacers when he averaged 11.9 points, 6.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per night. He was traded midway through the following season and finished his career in Indiana with per-game averages of 8.1 points and 3.8 assists.
