Indiana Pacers: 5 most productive duos on the roster
By Josh Wilson
Malcolm Brogdon and Aaron Holiday
Net rating: 8.3 (346 minutes)
An important thing to note about this duo is that while it’s the best one in terms of net rating, it’s also the more infrequently run lineup of the five mentioned here at less than 400 minutes.
Seldom do Holiday and Brogdon get to play together given the redundancy they create on top of each other, but the solid ball movement produced by having two pass-happy guards on the court that are still willing to shoot when given the right opportunity is clear.
The true shooting percentage of this duo when sharing the floor comes close to 60, and their turnover rate is quite low compared to other two-man lineup, one of just eight two-man lineups to have a turnover percentage lower than 12.
In terms of assist-to-turnover ratio, they post a 2.10.
Logging a 112.2 offensive rating and a 103.9 defensive rating, this duo is likely helped quite a bit by the intelligent defense that Brogdon provides. While it’s hard to see who else is typically on the floor with these two, Myles Turner may help them keep that defensive rating down, too.
This isn’t a pairing that McMillan really hunts or even should hunt, it’s more something that just happens. Given that it likely often runs on the cusp of the first rotation coming back in alongside the second unit, there’s a strong likelihood that it’s positively influenced by the starting five imposing its will on weaker bench units.
