The Indiana Pacers may attempt to trade Myles Turner. Here are how similar trades have gone down around the NBA.

The Indiana Pacers should consider all possibilities for moving forward this summer. One of those possibilities may be trading Myles Turner.

Turner has had notable struggles this season with the adjustment of welcoming Domantas Sabonis into the starting frontcourt.

Recently, Turner spoke on some of the struggles he’s had and revealed that before the offseason, he was told his post-up game would be the most important thing to work on this summer. Coming into the season, he had the script flipped and was asked to take more 3-pointers per game than he ever had before.

There’s an argument for retaining Turner. I, myself, believe it’s good that the Pacers kept him through the deadline. There was no market for big men this year and Turner provides better defense than Sabonis while also offering important spacing for him to do work on the interior.

I investigated and found that there’s a positive correlation — not necessarily a causation — between the net rating of the Turbonis frontcourt and how many 3-pointers Turner attempts.

That said, looking into deals that have gone through for other big men over the years can help get an idea of what Turner’s value might be. Let’s look at some recent big men trades and see what the return was and how these deals might liken to Turner, and what they say about the prospect of trading him.
