If you’re doing your part to practice healthy social distancing to help spread the spread of coronavirus, you’ve probably done a fair amount of binging lately. Some Indiana Pacers fans were happy this week to see a legendary throwback jersey appear on one of the hottest new comedies.

In this week’s episode of Dave (FX), one of the show’s characters, Taco, donned a classic Reggie Miller Pacers jersey in the opening scene.

It’s an away blue Champion brand jersey with yellow accent colors and the classic 3D text. Maybe not the greatest classic jersey, but a clean and minimalistic throwback look for sure.

The show’s setting is in Los Angeles and the main character is from Philadelphia, so it’s cool to see a small market team like the Pacers get a nod, even if brief.

Taco is played by Travis Bennett, who, in real life also goes by “Taco” and is most well known for his role in the rap group Odd Future which is led by Tyler, The Creator.

Bennett also appeared on the group’s TV show Loiter Squad. His character in dave is semi-fictional in that the threads of his industry experience are built into his character, but some of his backstory is that of a close childhood friend of Dave’s from Philadelphia, despite Bennet growing up in LA.

Reggie Miller‘s legacy is often frustratingly absent from modern social media platforms, something that many fans have expressed frustration with over the years.

Miller and some other notable NBA stars are not featured in NBA 2K games because they can’t reach amicable licensing deals with 2K since they aren’t included in the NBPA’s blanket negotiations with the game.

Similarly, Miller jerseys are hard to come by as well. Not included in the NBA’s offering of official classic jerseys, it’s often speculated that Miller has been displeased with the profits he’s been offered for his likeness there as well.

So unless you have a jersey from back when Miller was a current player or can find someone selling one from then, it’s tough to find an authentic uniform, making this fit on Dave even more of a flex.

Flexing is par for the course for Dave. Season one has been filled with enticing celebrity cameos from Trippie Red to Macklemore. The show centers on satirical rapper Lil’ Dicky and his journey to reach his goals in making it as one of the top-tier rappers in the industry.

Taco is one of Dave’s best friends and his producer, looking to make his way by collaborating with some of the hottest artists out. The latest episode centered on his attempt to work with Trippie Redd and his navigation with a newfound love interest from his friend group.

Dave has been a really fun ride throughout its first season. While it’s not a family-friendly show, if you’re interested in quirky comedy and an unconventional narrative built around some of real life’s greatest hip hop artists, it’s certainly for you.

If nothing else, check out the latest episode to see the beauty of that Reggie Miller jersey.
