Pacers: Ranking Domantas Sabonis among other 2019 rookie extensions

Caris LeVert has been defined by his injuries
Three years, $52,500,000 (17,500,000 per year)
In theory, I love this extension. I’m a huge backer of Caris LeVert and wish the Pacers didn’t trade him. Thanks, Paul George.
LeVert is an all-around skilled player and has the potential to lead a team and dominate games similar to how Kevin Durant does.
LeVert, unfortunately, has been chased by injuries long before his NBA career even started. It’s one of the main reasons he slid so far down the draft board. His college career was filled with injury setbacks, and it’s been much of the same since he came into the NBA.
He’s bounced back each time, but paying out $17.5 million per year to a player who is going to play third fiddle to KD and Irving feels like a steep price.
There’s a good chance the Nets move this contract if the fit is forced and they aren’t able to afford LeVert the opportunity he deserves, and the ultimate return on a trade like that will determine the true value in this extension.
This contract is very much a “wait and see” for me, but I think placing it sixth amongst these extensions is fair.
