Injury woes continue for Indiana Pacers in NBA 2K

This simulation felt shockingly realistic when Malcolm Brogdon went down with a broken ankle during the remainder of the regular season that would keep him out for the entire year.

While Brogdon hasn’t suffered an injury that bad this season, he appeared in just 48 games in his sophomore season and 64 in his third year, and was faced with injuries here and there throughout this season too, including a quad injury that left him week-to-week when the season cut off.

This broken ankle obviously leaves the Pacers without their starting point guard. To close the season we let the CPU handle the rotations, and his absence was felt as displayed in the team’s win/loss record.

The postseason would not be friendly to the Pacers in NBA 2K

The Pacers matched up with the Boston Celtics in round one of this simulation. They would not get swept, thankfully, but the only game they won in this series was Game 2. The Pacers would win that game 120-117 with the help of their bench, outscoring the Celtics bench 40-26.

It was the usual suspects for Boston. Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker consistently put up big offensive games and were complemented by various role players (Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward, Marcus Smart) each night.

This is a brutal matchup, but one that you’d still hope to see go at least six games, even without Brogdon.
