The Indiana Pacers core is intact

Having an idea of what your core will be and knowing it will be with you moving forward is always useful.

The Pacers core can be defined as: Victor Oladipo, Myles Turner, and Domantas Sabonis. Malcolm Brogdon could be considered a part of the core as well depending on who you ask.

All four of those players are on the books for next year already. Oladipo becomes a free agent first in 2021, then Brogdon and Turner in 2023, and Sabonis is on the books until 2024.

What this means is that a majority of the core is on the books for three more seasons yet to start, and it seems likely the team may be able to come to terms with Oladipo on a re-up when the time comes. The city and the team has stood by him through his gruesome injury and helped mold him into the player he is today. He’ll have the luxury of choosing from a number of teams who want his services, but it feels safe to speculate for now that Indiana would be at the top of the list.

Nevertheless, heading into next season the Pacers have all of these players on the books, no need to go after any of them in the summer and assure they come back; they are all already on contract to do so.

There’s a lot of talent in this grouping of four. Being able to head into next season and beyond knowing most will be around for as long as the Pacers want is relieving.
