Malcolm Brogdon

Brogdon has been solid for the Pacers this season and at one point was arguably the team’s best player before Sabonis took off and never looked back.

With the influx of rotational changes and injury, Brogdon has been unable to get into the groove he found early in the season.

This has led many to question if Brogdon and Oladipo can coexist.

But when there’s a will, there is a way and that is solidified with the Turner and Sabonis combination.

Brogdon and Oladipo will find a way to make it work.

At the surface, Brogdon’s numbers have been solid. In the last eight games, he has had six where he has scored in double digits. The point guard has also had two games out of those eight where he has reached double digits in assists. But like Oladipo, Brogdon’s efficiency has been off.

It’s not clear why Brogdon has been struggling to be efficient. It’s no question a weird spot for a member of the exclusive 50-40-90 club. But with time comes change and hopefully, that occurs sooner than later.

Brogdon has not been shy pulling the trigger but just simply hasn’t been able to connect. Against the Toronto Raptors on February 7th, Brogdon was 5 of 15 from the field. Two games later, the point guard would go 3 of 11, dismal by his standards.

Another aspect of Brogdon that will need to improve after the All-Star break is his consistency regarding his health. Coming into this season, it was expected for Brogdon to experience some sort of injury.

History was an indicator.

Despite the success he had in Milwaukee, his tenure there was marred by injury. But Brogdon’s injuries have been untimely due to the state of the team’s health as a whole.

As the composer of the offense, Brogdon’s inability to contribute has thrown off the team’s rotations and chemistry but knowing his mental toughness, expect for the point guard to turn the corner.

Brogdon and Oladipo are two of the most important pieces for not only the Pacers but the NBA as a whole. Both players exert professionalism and what it means to compete on a nightly basis.

The Pacers need these two to trend in the right direction, at the right time.
