David West

Acquired as a free agent after the 2011 season, David West provided Indiana with grit and toughness that had been lacking.

Throughout his tenure in Indiana, West helped the aforementioned George mold the landscape of an Indiana Pacers franchise that would reach the playoffs in three of the four seasons that he suited for the Pacers.

Averaging 14 points a game, West provided veteran leadership in the locker room and on the floor.

West also brought a new dimension to the Pacers with his play. West was a sturdy force in the post that also spread his game out to the elbow.

The big man allowed the Pacers to play inside-out. Wests’ presence both on and off the floor allowed the Pacers to not only have success but also maintain it.

Playing in 87% of his games with Indiana, West exuded the 2013 playoff motto, “Blue Collar, Gold Swagger”, with his durability while suiting up for the Pacers and his consistency proved to be key in their continual playoff pursuits.

West shot nearly 50% from the field in his four seasons with Indiana while averaging seven points per game. West would be a part of a rock-solid frontcourt of himself and 7’2 center, Roy Hibbert.

West was a great addition to the Pacers. His leadership set a standard that the organization still holds to this day.

Current players like T.J. Warren look up to West and hope to carry themselves in the same fashion.
