Three factors that have propelled the Indiana Pacers this season
The dominations of Domantas Sabonis
Domantas Sabonis has arguably been the Pacers’ most reliable and fruitful producer on both ends of the floor so far this season.
In 22 games, Sabonis’ ability to find success around the rim on the offensive end has lifted him to a career-high in points, 18.2, along with 13.5 rebounds averaged per game.
Sabonis has made his impact playing amongst both the first and second units. The power forward has provided the Pacers with an additional offensive option that translates to all five starters potentially scoring in double digits on a night-to-night basis.
His ability to maneuver in the paint as well as execute off of pick-and-rolls have provided him an advantage to play off of point guard, Malcolm Brogdon.
As an example, Sabonis has converted on nearly 66% of his field-goal attempts in the restricted area along with close to 31% of the remainder of his shot attempts coming from midrange or closer.
Sabonis’ ability to find success around the cup has made him a top option for the Pacers. His offensive progression has led to being ranked sixth in scoring amongst all other big men in the NBA.
As a bonus, Sabonis is currently fourth in the league amongst all big men when it pertains to average rebounds per game.
This kind of dominance from the Pacers frontman is a must for them to finish off their last slate of games in 2019 successfully.
Sabonis has led by example in 2019, expect that to continue as the Pacers look to take the next step as a group in the new year.
