T.J. Warren

With a trade from the Phoenix Suns in June, the Pacers received T.J. Warren, a small forward that has shown flashes of offensive brilliance including a 49% shooting from the field.

Warren also has been shooting 34% shooting from the three-point line for his career including 42.8% the previous season with the Suns.

For cash, the Pacers received a player that in five seasons, has proved to be lethal on offense coupled with an ability to stretch the floor. Warren can create his shot off the bounce and has proven that he can be a scorer from all areas of the floor, but his defense is lacking.

Acknowledging defensive improvement, Coach McMillan along with the aid of defensive guru, Coach Burke can hopefully provide an escape for Warren’s defensive woes.

In the meantime, the Pacers will benefit a great deal from his ability to stretch the floor and provide spacing for their bigs until Oladipo returns from a ruptured quad tendon to provide further assistance.

As a whole, Warren will primarily fill the offensive void that was left by Bogdanovic’s departure and while he may leave some defensive prowess to be desired, in just three preseason games, Warren has averaged 17.7 ppg in 27 minutes per game.
