Improve shot blocking

It’s hard to get opportunities to shot block when you have the league’s leader as a teammate in Turner. However, as a player who has been considered both a power forward and center, it will be important for Sabonis to make a name for himself defensively in 2019-2020.

The past few seasons Sabonis has been noted for his ability to score in double-digits while also hauling in double-digit rebounds per game. However, despite the success, he hasn’t been regarded as a consistent threat on the defensive side of the floor.

In each of his three seasons in the NBA, Sabonis has only averaged 0.4 blocks per game. If Sabonis is going to be part of the starting rotation for Coach McMillan, he will have to pull his weight defensively and that can be accomplished by being a consistent shot-blocker. Shot blocking can be deemed as something that comes with effort and Sabonis has no shortage of that.

If the team can have both Sabonis and Turner defending at a high-level, the production will correlate to offensive success for the Pacers.
