Pacers’ Myles Turner raises money for charity by streaming video games

Myles Turner took a break from gearing up for the coming Indiana Pacers season to play some Apex Legends and raise money for the AbleGamers Charity.

The Indiana Pacers have a 6-foot-11 kid at heart holding down their starting center position in Myles Turner. The 23 year old big man has already taken it upon himself to bring people together through the awesomeness of Spider-Man, and now, he’s using his love for video games to help a noble cause as well.

Yesterday, a livestream event put on by Mountain Dew Amp Game Fuel ran for about 10 hours that featured popular video game streamers and some special guests playing various games for their audiences while raising money for a charity called AbleGamers in the process.

AbleGamers’ cause is to allow anyone and everyone to enjoy video games, regards of any disabilities a person may have. The foundation works to create custom controllers and other necessary technology in order for everyone to gain access to the gaming world. It’s a great charity that’s picked up a lot of steam over the last several years.

Aydan, a streamer on the popular platform Twitch, was part of this charity livestream, and he was able to get Myles Turner on board to join him for a few rounds of Apex Legends, the Respawn Entertainment developed first-person shooter/battle royale game that rose to mainstream prominence back in February.

When it was all said and done, Myles and Aydan were able to raise $463 dollars for the cause over the course of their quick gaming session.

When the entire event was over and done with, all of the streamers, guests, and viewers combined were able to raise several thousands of dollars to go towards furthering AbleGamers’ outreach.

Myles Turner has been grinding all summer between work on the court, practices with Team USA, and even more yoga. For him, taking a break to game now and then is surely a nice change of pace, and it’s awesome that he was able to use his video gaming hobby to do something positive for others.
