3. Boston Celtics

Kyrie’s old team still could get the last laugh, however. On paper, the Boston Celtics lost a lot. Kyrie Irving and Al Horford both departing in free agency are substantial losses, but this team still has a lot going for it (plus, it seemed like Kyrie was damaging locker room relations anyway).

The most exciting thing to look for with Boston this season is how well freshly inked Kemba Walker will be able to adjust to his new surroundings. Walker has developed into a stone cold killer with the Charlotte Hornets for his entire career up to this point, and putting him on an actually competent team like the Boston Celtics could lead him to even more success.

Jayson Tatum should continue improving, as will Jaylen Brown. These two players could be phenomenal running mates for Walker as they try to hang out near the top of the East for years to come.

Losing Al Horford stings badly, but Enes Kanter is a solid enough big man to hold down the starting 5 position. Gordon Hayward seemed to be rounding back into form by the end of last year. Marcus Smart should continue being one of the best defenders in the league as well. There’s still plenty to like for the Celtics.
