The Indiana Pacers solidified their training camp roster with today’s addition of 25-year-old guard Naz Mitrou-Long, a promising G-Leaguer.

Naz Mitrou-Long, former 5th year redshirt senior for the Iowa State University Cyclones, is the most recent player the Indiana Pacers have opted to bring aboard during the 2019 offseason. Scott Agness of The Athletic broke the news via Twitter first:

Being that he’s signing a two-way contract, Mitrou-Long will spend a lengthy amount of time with the Pacers’ G-League affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. More than likely, he won’t spend more than 45 days total with the Pacers, or else the team will be required to give him a raise. Odds are, you’ll see him flip back and forth between Fort Wayne and Indianapolis several times during the season.

In terms of actual NBA action, Naz Mitrou-Long hasn’t had much. When he was previously on a two-way deal with the Utah Jazz, he received minimal time on the court in 15 games across two seasons.

Where we’ve seen him in action the most since leaving college undrafted is with the Salt Lake City Stars of the G-League. Here, Mitrou-Long was able to get his name to stand out above many others.

He played about 34 minutes per game in his two seasons there, and averaged a pretty impressive 18.3 points in this same time frame. Despite his small-ish 6-foot-4 height, he was able to see success on the glass as well, averaging 5.5 rebounds. He was also able to be a solid distributor for his teammates and would set them up to score on a regular basis.

Barring some sort of crazy trade or a potential Domantas Sabonis extension, we probably won’t get many more Indiana Pacers roster moves for the rest of the summer. Welcome to the team, Naz Mitrou-Long!
