76ers fans on social media are mourning the loss of T.J. McConnell, the Indiana Pacers’ newest addition. This is good news for Indy.

Yesterday, the Indiana Pacers made the acquisition of point guard T.J. McConnell official at long last. If the reaction of Philadelphia 76ers fans on Twitter is any indication, the Pacers seem to have picked up a guy that will turn into a fan favorite for the crowd inhabiting Banker’s Life Fieldhouse in no time.

Here, we have a guy not quite ready to accept that McConnell is really gone:

Next, someone reminiscing about T.J.’s role in getting the Sixers to where they are today:

And finally, the always heartbreaking “Michael Caine tearfully waving goodbye” GIF:

For Pacers fans, T.J. McConnell’s apparent willingness to get to work with his Pacer teammates is a great first step in getting his new followers on his side from the start. Via The Athletic (subscription required), Victor Oladipo, Doug McDermott, and Myles Turner all personally reached out to McConnell in order to welcome him to the team. Victor Oladipo even set up a workout with T.J. to get their chemistry growing early.

It seems McConnell is going to be a very likable guy for the Indiana Pacers, which probably at least partially explains why so many Sixers fans on social media are mourning his departure. Whenever your team adds a player and the fans of his former team are upset about it, that’s a sure sign that you should have reason to be excited about his arrival.

It seems pretty clear that the Indiana Pacers have another high character dude coming to town. For a team that has seemed to pride itself on good chemistry in recent seasons, this is a must for anyone that gets integrated into the locker room. T.J. McConnell, welcome to the Blue and Gold!
