What Aaron Holiday can show Malcolm Brogdon

Despite only having one year of NBA action under his belt, there are areas in which Aaron Holiday might have an edge over Malcolm Brogdon. Offensively, Holiday is always looking to score and attack. This can work against him at times, as it causes him to launch up some ill-advised shots that waste possessions, but there’s still something to be said for his aggressiveness.

In his role off the bench, Holiday is constantly trying to make an impact on the scoreboard when he sees action, because he knows his opportunities to get shots up will be limited any given night. When you’re not getting too many minutes per game, you have to try to capitalize on what you get.

This scorer’s mentality could be very useful for Malcolm Brogdon as the season starts for the Indiana Pacers. For several months in the new season, Indy will still be without Victor Oladipo. Because of this, someone is going to need to step up in a major way in order to keep the Pacers interesting offensively. T.J. Warren can get buckets, and so can Jeremy Lamb. But Malcolm Brogdon has the most to gain in this scenario.

If Brogdon can adopt some of Holiday’s killer instinct while still retaining his smart style of play, he could become dangerous for opposing teams on the offensive side of the court. Brogdon can nail threes, and he’s good at getting to the hoop as well. Combine this with some more controlled aggression on offense, and he can turn into a force till Victor returns.

The Indiana Pacers will have some things to figure out once the new season tips off, but if players are willing to learn and grow alongside one another, the new roster’s transition should be fairly smooth. Look for Malcolm Brogdon and Aaron Holiday to mutually benefit from each other.
