New teammates bring new ways to grow and improve. What can Malcolm Brogdon and Aaron Holiday show each other for the Indiana Pacers?

The Indiana Pacers have had a major face-lift this off-season with 7 key free agents departing the team for various reason, and 6 new guys so far joining the squad, with shot blocking fiend Amida Brimah being the most recent addition in Naptown.

Whenever a team undergoes major changes, there’s going to be a period of adjustment for everyone. New players bring new play-styles and philosophies to the court. On paper, it seems like the Pacers added a bunch of great pieces, but chemistry will take time to build back up, and there will be a transitional period at first as everyone learns to share the court with one another.

However, a major benefit from bringing in fresh faces is the fact that they can impart their knowledge and skillsets from previous teams and situations to their new teammates. There’s something to be said for broadening your horizons and meeting new people in life, and that extends to the basketball court as well.

A player like Malcolm Brogdon played in a great system for the Milwaukee Bucks last season under the tutelage of 2019 NBA Coach of the Year, Mike Budenholzer. The Bucks had the best record in the entire league, and Brogdon was a huge part of the team’s success.

Now with the Indiana Pacers, Brogdon will bring his talents and everything he’s learned to a new organization. A young player such as Aaron Holiday has a lot he can learn and absorb from a guy like Brogdon. But it goes both ways: Holiday himself has some skills and traits that could benefit Brogdon as well if he’s open to learning from a young, aggressive sophomore.

First, let’s take a look at what Holiday can learn from Brogdon.
