The Indiana Pacers really shook things up this summer in terms of roster construction. Let’s take a closer look at each move and grade what the team has done so far.

Going into the summer, it was hard to predict what direction the Indiana Pacers would end up taking. With many key players entering free agency and a healthy amount of cap space to spend, the conditions were right for the team to get its most substantial overhaul in years.

Essentially, that’s what ended up happening. Every free agent that played a large role on the team in 2018-2019 departed (or retired/got banned from the league), and a slew of new faces were brought to Indy to try to restructure the team for sustained success moving forward. It’ll take a while to get used to this new squad of players, but the future is still bright for the Blue and Gold.

Without seeing the new roster in action yet, it’s a bit tricky to grade the team’s moves this summer as a whole. However, taking a look at each transaction individually is a bit easier to digest, so let’s do just that today.

To this point, there have been 5 major additions to the Indiana Pacers this summer. Going chronologically, let’s dish out some grades to everything that’s gone down so far, starting with a surprising trade with the Phoenix Suns that occurred shortly before the 2019 NBA Draft on June 20th.
