Should the Indiana Pacers consider bringing George Hill the Hometown Hero back to Naptown?
Fresh off of a six-game Eastern Conference Finals series, where the Toronto Raptors overcame a 2-0 deficit to win four straight and advance to the NBA finals, the Milwaukee Bucks point guard George Hill has a level of uncertainty following him into the summer.
Hill, who just turned 33 last month, is still under contract for $18,000,000, but only $1 million is guaranteed if the Bucks decide to release him by July 1st.
For a team with limited cap space and crucial players hitting the market this summer (Malcolm Brogdon, Brook Lopez, Khris Middleton), it seems it’s almost guaranteed the veteran point guard’s contract will be waived.
The lingering question will be if the Bucks want to attempt to retain Hill on a cheaper deal, or if he’ll be starting next season in his 6th different uniform since the Pacers dealt him to Utah three summers ago.
With Darren Collison and Cory Joseph both being unrestricted free agents, and a level of uncertainty towards giving sophomore Aaron Holiday significant minutes starting in October, should the front office explore a second homecoming for the hometown hero?
