Positive signs from Aaron Holiday in April

Due to the fact that Holiday played just 13 minutes in 50 games means he does not have any statistics which jump out to me. One area which I want to focus on is the month of April.

Holiday saw the most minutes in the final five games of the season averaging 24.8 minutes per game. He had his best stretch passing the ball dishing out 4.2 assists in those games and averaged 9.4 points.

It is interesting to see how throughout the season in the stretches where he played most, Holiday was facilitating the ball more and his scoring went down. Granted, his scoring numbers changed by a very small margin it is interesting to note how his shooting percentages dipped a little meaning he was finding his teammates more and letting the game come to him.

For reference, in November Holiday averaged 10.6 points shooting 46.6 from the field but only dished out 1.9 assists.

While scoring is going to be an immense part of Holiday’s role in the future, he will undoubtedly need to master the Pacers’ favorite offensive set in the pick and roll and Holiday is the perfect player for that but will need to be able to draw defenses to his quickness and find guys like Domantas Sabonis inside or look to the perimeter.

Holiday and Sabonis seemed to find chemistry this which could be valuable for many years to come so it is imperative for him to do more than shoot the ball well.
