Admiral Schofield, Tennessee

Position: SF,PF | Class: Senior | Height: 6’6” | Weight: 241 | Age: 22

Admiral Schofield is another four-year player, but with a much more well-rounded game.

He isn’t overly blessed physically with a 6’10 wingspan, but he is tough enough to guard up a position at times and quick enough to handle faster wings on the college level. His motor and strength allows him to fight for rebounds. His passing is OK but something any team drafting him will need to work on.

This season with the Volunteers he is averaging 16.2 points a game on 47.6 shooting and a reliable 41.1 percent from beyond the arc. Throw in 6.1 rebounds and 0.9 steals, and you’ve got a decent stat line for the senior.

All of this is well and good, but Schofield lacks an elite skill to rely on. His game is more solid than anything else. His game lacks polish on the offensive side in particular. While his shooting numbers are fine, there are questions on how that projects at the NBA level. While he would be a decent pick for Indiana, his upside is limited if he doesn’t become a reliable 3-point shooter in the NBA.

Schofield would fill a need at power forward for the Pacers in small-ball lineups, with the ability to cover slightly bigger forwards in the right matchups. If that 3-pointer transfers to the NBA, then he truly would fit the 3-and-D mold any team could use.

First game: Tennessee vs Colgate, Friday at 2:45 p.m. on CBS.
