Indiana Pacers fans should check out this “Kenyan” Aaron Holiday jersey
By Ben Gibson
Want to help rural Kenyan schools get clean drinking water? Indiana Pacers fans should consider bidding on this Aaron Holiday jersey that is being auctioned.
Let’s get it out of the way: This Aaron Holiday jersey is dope. Made by a Kenyan tailor, it was created in honor of our favorite rookie shooting guard.
So why should you care about it other than it looks cool? Let me tell you why.
Underdogs United, a Pittsburgh-based organization, is raising money for clean drinking water for rural schools in Kenya. One way they do this is by auctioning off signed jerseys from athletes, and the money from the auction goes towards that cause.
According to Underdogs United, 90 percent of schools in rural Kenya do not have access to safe drinking water. This can lead to various illnesses and even death for some. Obviously, that’s a huge problem, but one you can lend a hand in fixing.
Holiday is lending his hand to the process by signing an Indiana Pacers jersey and letting Underdogs United auction it off. Fellow Pacers teammate Myles Turner took part in January.
Now here is where you can consider coming in. You can bid on his signed Pacers jersey (the auction ends soon) to help raise money to, according to their site, “support our safe drinking water initiative for children in Kenya. 100% of proceeds from this auction are dedicated to funding water purification systems for rural Kenyan schools through our partnership with Impact Water.”
So, you if you bid high enough, you get a signed Aaron Holiday jersey — who we assume is a big part of Indiana’s future backcourt — and get to feel good as you help some folks in rural Kenya get clean water.
Whether you win the bid or not, you can consider checking out some of their apparel, which the proceeds also go towards that clean water initiative in rural Kenya as well.
Whether it’s this organization or one close to you in Indiana or elsewhere, think about volunteering or giving to them today.
