Victor Oladipo’s game-winner versus the Celtics
This one needs no explanation.
Victor Oladipo‘s game-winner against the Celtics in early November was the play of the year (so far). Nobody knew just how well the Pacers stacked up against the other top teams in the Eastern Conference, and this game was one of their first opportunities to prove they were legit. Late in the game, it looked like it was going to be tough.
The game was about as dramatic as they come, with 18 total lead changes leading up to the breathtaking ending. With just 38 seconds to go, the Celtics commanded a 4 point lead. The Pacers had the ball, and Oladipo got fouled and headed to the line for 2 shots.
He made both. 29.2 seconds to go.
The Pacers needed a stop, and they got it, forcing a Kyrie Irving miss around the basket with a shade over 10 seconds to go. Oladipo got the rebound, and, well, just watch…
Just insane. Somehow, I involuntarily stood up. I couldn’t control my legs. My body just shot up in excitement. It was a crazy moment. Bankers Life Fieldhouse was rocking.
Those more composed than me noticed that there was still 3.4 seconds on the clock. The Pacers still had to get a stop to win. No matter, the Pacers have Oladipo:
The whole ending of this game was Vic being Vic. It was the moment of the season, by a mile. Wasn’t it fun to relive? I miss feathery moments. Get well soon.
