Myles Turner’s block versus the Hornets

Blocks are just so embarrassing. Being the player who has his stuff pushed in and sent back is demoralizing mentally (and physically).

Most of Myles Turner‘s blocks are emphatic and embarrassing for his opponent. It’s just the nature of his game. But this one was different. This one got Quinn Buckner to make an outstanding call. It was sensational.

Yes, I’m talking about the one on Marvin Williams. Williams began charging down the lane and loaded up for a dunk, but Turner had other plans:

The block was so good that we wrote an entire post about it. It was glorious in every way. It also led the Pacers on a run. They were up 13-11 at the time of the block. Four minutes later, they were up 34-20. The momentum Turner’s swat gave the team was magnificent.

This one was insane. I yelled “smothered chicken!” myself, and I was alone. It was fantastic. And yet, it was the second best play of the year.
