Like everyone else on this list so far, the best days of Jalen Rose’s career came with the Indiana Pacers. His role with the Pacers was constantly on the rise: first as a youngster playing a consistent but fringe role, second (when the Pacers first donned pinstripes) as Indiana’s sixth man, third as a primary offensive piston to drive the Pacers’ engine. Then he got traded to the Chicago Bulls for among others, Ron Artest.

During his final 2.5 years in Indiana, Rose accounted for nearly 20 percent of the Pacers scoring. He was a giant for a point guard, and used his height advantage (Rose was 6-8) to survey and launch over opposing point guards, who were inevitably smaller than he.

Rose could slither to the basket or let fly from deep with a then-well above average 3-point shot. Rose at his best, was a a talent that could co-lead a team to the NBA Finals, which he did in 2000 when he barely averaged more points per game than Reggie Miller did.

Rose never was as good after he left Indiana as he was with Indiana. His career lost stability bouncing from Chicago to Toronto to New York to Phoenix, before launching a successful broadcasting career.

While he scored more points during his first year with the Bulls, then he ever did with the Pacers, he did so less efficiently on a much worse Chicago team. But the final five year of his career should not diminish the fantastic display he delivered for several years in Indiana.
