The Indiana Pacers are adding Stephan Hicks on a 10-day contract. Let’s break down the signing.

The Indiana Pacers had an open roster spot to use, and they finally did something with it. They added Stephan Hicks on a 10-day contract.

Shams Charania of the Atheltic and Watch Stadium broke the news on Twitter earlier today:

Stephan Hicks has been having a quality year in Fort Wayne for the Mad Ants. He is averaging 16.2 points per game on 49 percent shooting overall, 35 percent shooting from deep, and 87 percent from the line. On top of that, he adds 7 rebounds per game. He’s 6’6 and is great at grabbing misses.

If you’re into advanced stats, Hicks numbers are nice as well. His offensive rating is a robust 120.5, which pushes his net rating to +7.1. His true shooting percentage is a nice 58 percent, which is what makes him have a positive impact on the offense. He could bring that to the Pacers.

A 10-day contract is exactly what it sounds like – it will keep Hicks with the team until the end of the month. Last season, if you’ll recall, the Pacers did a transaction just like this. They added Trey McKinney-Jones from Fort Wayne in a similar manner, and he got to make his NBA debut during his time with the team.

The Pacers play 6 games through the end of the month, so there is a decent chance one of those games is enough of a blowout that Hicks himself is able to make his NBA debut. McKinney-Jones was pretty psyched when he made his:

The Indiana Pacers love to reward Mad Ants players with these deals. This is just another example. Stephan Hicks now gets his chance with the squad. Welcome him to the team!
