Bucks no problem for Pacers – even in this economy

Victor Oladipo returned and the Indiana Pacers played an excellent game in a win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

A basketball game happened. The Indiana Pacers played very well against a very good basketball team and came away with a big win at home over the Milwaukee Bucks.

97. 89. 113. 100. Final

Thaddeus Young played a marvelous game. It might have been his best performance in a Pacer uniform. He had 25 points and 11 rebounds and played sensational defense on Giannis Antetokounmpo. Everything he did was calculated and well executed, and he led the way on both ends of the floor.

Oh yeah, and Victor Oladipo returned from injury! That was exciting. He was supposedly on a minutes restriction, but with the Pacers up by double digits late in the game, Nate McMillan left Vic on the court. Thank goodness he did, because Oladipo pulled down his 10th rebound to secure his double-double right at the end of the game.

He had some nice plays despite missing so much time:

As a team, the Pacers looked really good. On defense, they were as solid as usual, only giving up 97 points. They won the rebounding battle 55-43. They hit 40 percent of their threes. They had 31 assists. They played a great brand of team basketball, and they had no problem winning the game.

This happened too, which was neat:

Overall, between a great game and some even better charity, it was a perfect night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Thaddeus Young is Giannis’ kryptonite

Thaddeus Young had 25/11/4/5 steals. That is an incredible stat line. Like, one of the best lines we have seen from a Pacer this season. But that wasn’t even the best thing he did.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, who averages over 26 points per game, was held to 12 points. He was only able to get up 7 shots. He averages 13 rebounds and only got 10. Thad kept him from being impactful and it allowed the Pacers to do everything else well on defense.

Myles can never ditch the ponytail

After having a sensational game on Monday in his first game with a ponytail, Myles Turner played another game with a ponytail tonight. He had 23 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. Turner has been rolling for a while now, and the longer it continues the better the Pacers record will get.

Some people suck at tic-tac-toe

If you haven’t seen this, you need to. It was outstanding:

It wasn’t actually related to basketball, but it was incredibly humorous.

Now, back to hoops. Let’s do some grades:

PG. Indiana Pacers. DARREN COLLISON. C. 3 points on 3 shots aren’t great across 29 minutes. But the 3 points were the dagger 3 late in the fourth quarter, and he had 7 assists. Eric Bledsoe was able to score well, though. And he had 3 turnovers. Meh night.

:). Vic played well. But more importantly, Vic played. Period. Woo!!. SG. Indiana Pacers. VICTOR OLADIPO

SF. Indiana Pacers. BOJAN BOGDANOVIC. B. *Victor Oladipo voice*: Bojannnnnnnnnn
Bogey had the quietest 16 points of all time. He put in another solid offensive game and was adequate on defense. A solid game from Bogey.

THADDEUS YOUNG. E. I’m breaking the grading scale to give Thad an “E” for “excellent”. He was seriously unbelievable in this game. He led the team to victory.. PF. Indiana Pacers

A -. Myles has been great of late. He was great on defense in this one. He wasn’t particularly efficient, but he was still really good.. C. Indiana Pacers. MYLES TURNER

C. Indiana Pacers. DOMANTAS SABONIS. A -. 12/10 for Sabonis, who keeps racking up the double-doubles. He, like Turner, was very good in this one despite being inefficient.

C -. 2/7 shooting wasn’t great, and both makes were on consecutive possessions. He had an embarrassing layup miss on a fast break, too. But only 1 turnover is good for Reke at this point. He has to start playing better.. SG. Indiana Pacers. TYREKE EVANS

B -. CoJo had a not great shot selection off the dribble in this one, but was good on defense and had 6 rebounds and 6 assists. He was contributing in different ways than usual while his shot was not falling.. PG. Indiana Pacers. CORY JOSEPH

A. Like Bojan, McBuckets had a quietly great offensive game. Like, he didn’t miss. 5/5 with 12 points and he added 4 rebounds. Also, for a low usage guy, 0 turnovers is ideal. This is what they hoped they were getting from McD when they signed him.. SF. Indiana Pacers. DOUG MCDERMOTT

Indiana Pacers. AARON HOLIDAY. :(. Holiday didn’t play, but he gets a grade card so I can point out that exact fact. It’s unfortunate, but he is the odd man out of the rotation with Oladipo back. Hopefully, he can find a way to get some minutes here and there.. PG

Next. Let’s rethink the Indiana Pacers trading Darren Collison idea. dark

The Pacers take on the Philidelphia 76ers on national TV on Friday. They will look to avenge their early season loss.
