Domantas Sabonis could average a double-double this season

I’m not even sure this is a hot take anymore. Sabonis could very easily average a double-double between points and rebounds for the entire season.

He did it in almost every preseason game, and on opening night he had an absurd 14 points and 15 rebounds. And he made it look easy. The rebounds were effortless, the points came from dunks, duck-ins, and simple layups. The things he did were repeatable.

What’s to stop Domas from doing that every night? I think nothing is the answer. He will get plenty of playing time; both sharing the floor with and backing up Turner. He is an effort maven and an efficient finisher. I’ll place the bet: Sabonis will average a double-double in 2018-19.

Next. Where do the Indiana Pacers stack up in the East?. dark

I’m sure at least one of these takes will seem outlandish by the end of the season, but it is fun to make massive conclusions after one game. The Pacers are on pace for an 82-0 season. Let’s enjoy the ride.
