Ben Moore’s contract

Ben Moore occupies the Pacers 15th and final roster spot at the present moment. Between splitting time in Indiana and Fort Wayne last season as well as Moore outplaying Omari Johnson and Elijah Stewart in the preseason, Moore clawed and fought like hell for this roster spot. He’s earned at least a chance to show he is an NBA player.

The Pacers are paying Moore as a player who has to prove it this season. His contract is a minimum deal, meaning at the most he would make $1,312,611. However, this deal is only partially guaranteed, and the partial guarantee is very small (for NBA standards) at just $45,000. That means if he isn’t performing, or the team wants to go a different direction with the final roster spot, they could waive him with a minimal penalty at any time.

In early January 2019, every contract becomes fully guaranteed. Unless Moore impresses by that point, I would muse he is waived a la Damien Wilkins last season. It would open a roster spot for the team and allow them to sign someone who becomes available on the buyout market.

It’s an uphill climb for Moore still, but his whole career has been so far. He is on a very team-friendly deal, but perhaps he impresses and makes the final roster. We will have to see how he plays.
