INDIANAPOLIS, IN – DECEMBER 04: Darren Collison /

What do I think comes next for Collison financially?

The Pacers always take care of their own guys if they perform, so if Collison plays well again this coming season I would imagine that Kevin Pritchard tries to bring him back on a short team deal. Perhaps another two-year, $20 million deal will suit both teams well, especially if the Pacers can partially guarantee that second season again.

If DC struggles, given that Aaron Holiday, Edmond Sumner, and Cory Joseph are all younger than him and in the Pacers point guard pipeline, I would guess that Collison signs elsewhere and isn’t pursued by Indiana.

Perhaps a two year deal with the New Orlean Pelicans for the mid-level exception would work in this case, or even a larger one year deal with someone like Phoenix or Orlando, who is just a point guard away from being an okay team.

Next. The Indiana Pacers signed Tyreke Evans to an Amazing Contract. dark

Collison has wildly outperformed his current contract so far, which is pretty amazing to think about considering the reactions to the deal. Hopefully, he can be that good again in the coming season since he is currently one of the cheapest starting point guards in the league.
