After being cut by the Indiana Pacers last summer, Lavoy Allen may have finally found a new home in the NBA.

Lavoy Allen? Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. After having his team optioned declined by the Indiana Pacers last summer, Allen didn’t find his way on to an NBA roster last season.

He reportedly signed in China last season, but it never materialized and he didn’t end up playing a professional basketball game for a while. Then, in February, he joined the G League, signing with the Suns’ affiliate team, the Northern Arizona Suns. In 10 games with the minor league Suns, Allen posted averages of nine points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

Thanks to his prior NBA experience and solid play in the minors, Lavoy Allen was selected in the G League expansion draft. The Washington Wizards new affiliate team, the Capital City Go-Go, added Allen to their roster in their inaugural season.

Because of this, Lavoy has recently been working out in Washington. Apparently, he is impressing in those workouts, as the Washington Wizards signed him to a contract with the pro team:

(Shoutout to former Pacers beat writing great Candace Bucker!)

Allen came to Indiana as a result of the Danny Granger trade to the 76ers. In his time in Indiana, he averaged 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game across four seasons. He was always a reliable power forward off of the bench, and he even found his way into the starting lineup 33 times.

Allen might not make the team, but he has to chance to earn the final spot on a Wizards team that includes former Pacers big man Ian Mahinmi. Whether or not Allen makes the roster is yet to be seen, but it is cool to see him have a chance to make it back into the NBA.
