Contracts can be confusing. To help make them easier, we will break down the monetary situation of every player on the Indiana Pacers roster and what to expect going forward. In this edition, we take a look at Kyle O’Quinn.

The Indiana Pacers signing of Kyle O’Quinn was very sneakily a great move.

On the surface, he is just a fourth big man in the rotation. We don’t know what his role projects to be on a night to night basis, but it seems like O’Quinn will only play about 750-1000  minutes over the course of the season.

But dig deeper, and it is a great move. He slides into the Al Jefferson role, but there is a key difference here. Kyle O’Quinn is an NBA player, he is one that the Pacers wanted. Jefferson is not an NBA player, he is off to China. O’Quinn can soak up his minutes in a similar way to the way Jefferson did last year, but he is far, far better.

Another great thing about O’Quinn is that his contract is awesome both for the short and long-term health of the franchise. Let’s take a closer look at his deal and the next steps for Kyle O’Quinn.
