The NBA2K19 “MyCareer” trailer was recently released. In a surprising bit of news, the Pacers G League affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, are prominently featured in the promo.

NBA 2K becomes bigger and bigger every year. So much so that the NBA has recently created a gaming league. The Indiana Pacers have a team.

Outside of Esports, 2K is still an enormously popular video game. Perhaps its most popular game mode is called “MyCareer”, which is described by 2K as follows:

“Create a customized player and take him from trying out as rookie to a star. Work your way to a starting position on the team, courting sponsorships and winning fans on Social Media along the way.”

Every year, 2K changes up the story of the journey the customized player has. This year, it appears that the journey will feature a trip into the Indiana Pacers organization.

The Fort Wayne Mad Ants are a huge part of the trailer that teases the storyline for MyCareer mode in NBA 2K19. After struggling in China, the customized player doesn’t make it to the NBA and needs to refine his skills in the G League. The Fort Wayne Mad Ants take a chance on the player, and you work your way up through the G League.

There are a few indications that the game developers actually spent time putting real Fort Wayne attractions into the mode. Part of the trailer is seen as a depiction of Cooney Island, a famous Weiner stand in Fort Wayne.

You can view the trailer here:

Speaking of 2K, let’s talk about Alize Johnson for a second. He recently learned he would be rated 69 in the game, which is fine because he is a rookie. He tweeted out his excitement to be in the game:

https://twitter.com/AlizeJohnson/status/1032019747406266369

Why are we talking about Alize Johnson and 2K? Because that looks absolutely nothing like him. Hopefully, in the final release of the game, Alize looks more like… Alize.

It is cool to see the Fort Wayne Mad Ants featured so prominently in 2K. As the video game and the G League continue to grow, this game appearance can only be a good thing for the Mad Ants and Pacers.
