Indiana Pacers wing Tyreke Evans took part in James Harden’s celebrity-filled weekend to raise money for the 3 the Harden Way foundation.

We’re around the halfway point of the offseason, leaving plenty of time for the Indiana Pacers to enjoy a few more weeks of freedom before training camps get rolling. For Tyreke Evans, this meant enjoying himself at James Harden’s JH-Town Weekend.

In the celebrity softball game, Evans belted a home run while Travis Scott celebrated, judging from the caption on his Instagram.

I wouldn’t call it a smooth swing, but obviously, it did the job as he didn’t have to rush around the bases after it cleared the fence.

Harden and a host of NBA players and celebrities took to the basketball floor on Saturday, which is the closest we’re getting to real basketball until October.

Evans made the starting lineup with Marcus Morris, Markieff Morris, Bobby Brown, Demar DeRozan on Team Black while James Harden, Russell Westbrook, P.J. Tucker, Josh Smith, Gerald Green held things down for Team Red.

Tyreke’s team lost thanks to Gerald Green hit the game-winning 3-pointer. But hey, at least he had some nice highlights. Evans is wearing the No. 12 jersey for the black team if you’re still getting familiar with him. Look for the beard, too.

By my count, that’s 13 points and 2 assists just in the plays shown. It may be a glorified pick-up game, but I’m saying this is the first on-court evidence that signing Evans was a good idea for the Pacers.

There was some uninspiring defense in those highlights, but watching him throw up an alley-oop, drive the lane and knock down a 3-pointers only gets you excited for his upcoming season with the Pacers.

The weekend raised money for James Harden’s “3 The Harden Way“, which helps send kids in the Houston area to college.

Tyreke Evans getting buckets (and a home run) and raising money to help underprivileged kids. What’s not to like?
