It looks like the Pacers preseason schedule is all but set
By Tony East
While the Indiana Pacers preseason schedule has not been officially released, we may know the whole thing already.
In a weird order of events, the Indiana Pacers regular season schedule has been announced before their preseason schedule.
This isn’t abnormal. It happened last year, too. The 2017-18 regular season schedule was announced on August 14, 2017, while the preseason slate of games was released on August 16th. So while the order of happenings is odd, it is not unique.
Regardless, we still don’t officially know the preseason schedule as the team has not announced it…
Or do we?
Even though the Pacers haven’t released their own preseason schedule, most other teams have. Thankfully, RealGM has been tracking every organizations preseason schedule and it allows us to piece together what the Pacers slate of matchups might be.
A quick CRTL+F of “Indiana” shows us four Pacers games:
- October fourth in Houston against the Rockets.
- October sixth in Memphis against the Grizzlies, an early return game for Tyreke Evans.
- October eighth in Cleveland against the Cavaliers, a revenge game from the postseason last year for Indiana.
- October 10th in Chicago against the Bulls.
While this isn’t official, Indiana only had four preseason games last season and they spanned across the same dates (from October 4th-10th). Given these coincidences, it is very possible that this is the Pacers entire schedule for the preseason.
Additionally, it should be noted that there are no home games on the docket for the preseason. Sources have said that there will be no games in Bankers Life Fieldhouse before the regular season starts, so don’t expect to see your beloved Pacers until the real action begins.
The preseason games don’t matter for much, but they are the first glimpse of Indy hoops we get for the 2018-19 season. October 4th is the official kickoff of a new Pacer season. Just 50 more days to go.
