What we don’t love about Alize Johnson

Johnson is a product of a lower-tier of division-1 athletics. He played well in the Missouri Valley Conference, a conference that was not strong and, until recently, was completely dominated by Wichita State.

Johnson shot at a 43 percent clip from the field this past season (28 percent from 3-point range) playing against low competition. He is very unproven going up against strong competition, even the summer league is a drastically lower level of competition than the NBA.

His shot can also use some work, while he does have the ability to spot up and shoot from anywhere on the court, he has developed some bad habits. One I have noticed is his wonky runner/hook shot that he will throw up if the defense comes up to meet his drive (the 1:07 mark in the previous video).

He can score but he has the tendency to take shots that he was able to get away with in college that will be considered mistakes in the NBA.
